Save the Belt - Maintain Your Conveyors Costliest Component

Conveyor belting...it’s the fussiest, costliest and most fragile of all components.Repairing it is a pain, replacing it is a nightmare and both tasks take up valuable time and money.

“At 15 to 20 dollars a foot, it’s a pretty expensive situation when you’re replacing a belt,” said Kenny, a maintenance foreman at Capitol Aggregates in Austin, Texas.

To ease the pain, Superior unveiled a project this summer aimed to help shield producers from brand new belting. “Save the Belt” features three of the companies more innovative conveyor components, highlighting their belt saving characteristics.

1. Chevron® Wing Pulley

Problem: Traditional wing pulleys are unable to deflect oncoming rocks.
Result: Rocks get trapped between wings and puncture belting or bend pulley wings.
Save the Belt: V-shaped pulley deflects rocks from trapping, eliminating belt puncture points.
2. Navigator® Return Trainer

Problem: Traditional belt aligners are often equipped with “side guide rollers”.
Result: These guides can eat away at belting and only preventmis-alignment, they don’t solve it.
Save the Belt: Continuous belt alignment tooldesigned without harmful side guide rollers.
3. Urathon® Return Roll

Problem: Traditional steel return idlers are prone to sticky material buildup.
Result: Carrying caked on material, the return idler can cause belt mis-tracking.
Save the Belt: This stick-free solution sheds material and helps belts run straight.
