New ROC F9C SmartRig offers automated productivity

The new ROC F9C SmartRig lets operators lay out shot patterns on a computer and then helps them follow through with GPS guided, automated drilling for higher accuracy and speed. It also keeps documentation of performance for better planning and accountability.

Marking a drill pattern on the ground is not necessary with computer placement. Operators continue to work even during inclement weather and paint marks won't wash away or get covered with snow.

Along with the accurate drilling positioning, the ROC F9C rock drill adjusts impact power and feed pressure to suit rock conditions, achieving smoother drilling and reducing stress on the drill steel.

To further explain the Rig Control System technology, operators can pre-plan their shot by entering the hole spacing, burden, depth and blast angle on a personal computer program that comes with the rig. They then load a memory card into the ROC F9C, where the plans are followed precisely. This is possible in all weather conditions, such as rain or snow that could wash away or cover marker paint, the hole deviation is typically less than 2-inches. Computer placement eliminates the need to manually site the drill, or even mark holes on the ground. The ROC F9C drills holes between 3-1/2 to 5-inches in diameter and up to 98-feet deep.

Essentially, the SmartRig ROC F9C helps businesses operate smarter — increasing productivity and providing better documentation. Once positioned over the “X” indicated on the operators computer screen, a single button is pushed to activate the drilling function. The drill adds steel, adjusts through unconsolidated rock formations and completes a hole to the predetermined depth without the operator touching the controls. Operators using the SmartRig frequently concede the computer can drill as accurate as them without dropping steel or missing a beat … all day long.

By increasing hole to hole productivity, fuel efficiency as well as accuracy becomes noticeable. For those drilling in populated areas the SmartRig also features an optional silence package. A “silenced” rig reduces noise for those outside the cab to 83 dba as close as 380 yards from the rig.
