New leadership at state’s largest transportation association

ITASCA, IL — Michael Sturino will join IRTBA in his role as president of the 350 member firm. Sturino heads to IRTBA from his role as village administrator in Forest Park for the past four years. His background as a leader in municipal government, a land use expert and as an attorney proved a great match to the vision of the IRTBA.

“Transportation in our nation is at a crossroads. We need to act today to insure the future of our infrastructure is safe, reliable and built for the next generation. IRTBA welcomes these challenges and looks forward to solutions with new leadership. It is our pleasure to announce Michael Sturino as the new President of the Illinois Road & Transportation Builders Association,” said IRTBA chairman Tod Faerber.

“We are the voice of transportation in Illinois,” he continued. “The IRTBA advocates for the adequate, proper and mindful investment in the very systems that keep our businesses and families moving across this state. Michael Sturino is a strong forceful leader; one that we need in order to get our state moving again.”

“Transportation is a quality of life issue. I’ve worked throughout my career to improve lives. Continuing this process, the next step is IRTBA,” said Sturino. “Springfield and Washington need to work for the people of Illinois, and provide the guidance and wherewithal to build and maintain our systems.”

Sturino replaces William Grams, a visionary leader who has elected to retire in early January 2009, after 12 years of service at IRTBA.

The Illinois Road & Transportation Builders Association, formed in 1938, is a statewide association comprised of over 350 member companies that design, build and maintain the system of roads, airports, public transportation and waterways in Illinois.
