HP4 and HP5 Cone Crushers from Metso

Metso leads the way in crusher technology with the enhanced  HP4 and HP5 cones. This new generation of cone crushers features key improvements that result in higher output, simplified operation and lower maintenance costs:

Anti-Spin/Anti-Braking Device
The anti-spin /braking device prevents the head for spinning, and allows the HP4 and HP5 to operate in a non-choke feed application. Less choke feeding results in less liner wear, and longer liner life means less downtime.

Fixed counterweight guard
A new fixed counterweight guard protects the counterweight against dust and wear. No moving parts inside the discharge flow results in better protection of the inner parts of the crusher, and less maintenance and downtime.

New tramp release design
Dual-acting hydraulic tramp release cylinders allow the HP4 and HP5 to pass tramp iron that would stall, or damage, many other crushers. If the crusher does stop under load, the dual-acting cylinders provide a large clearing stroke to quickly clear the crushing cavity. The new tramp release design better protects the main frame from by smoothing out impact forces and returning the bowl to its original position after passing tramp iron.

Setting adjustment
The ability of the HP4 and HP5 to operate at a constant mechanical setting (instead of a head floating on a column of oil) creates less setting drift and provides more stability throughout the circuit. The HP4/HP5 retain the proven threaded rotating bowl design. This design equalizes wear and provides a more consistent setting around the circumference of the crushing chamber.

Thicker Liners
The HP4 and HP5 cones feature thicker liners that last longer and require less frequent replacement. An advanced fastening system for the mantle and bowl liner eliminates the need for backing material, and makes liner changes quicker and easier. The elimination of backing material is also better for the environment. When liners are changed or the crusher is reconfigured, the same hydraulic motors that rotate the bowl for setting adjustment will rotate the bowl completely out of the adjustment ring threads, further simplifying liner replacement.

Crusher cover
The cover around the crusher protects employees from casual contact with adjustment and tramp release mechanisms, and also protects the workspace with reduced dust emissions.

Highest performance
With a combination of optimized speed and large throw, the HP4 and HP5 cones provide the highest reduction ratios of any cone crusher on the market today. And due to their highly efficient crushing action, the HP4 and HP5 also have the best power utilization per cone diameter. So you double your savings with lower energy consumption per ton of crushed rock, and with a lower recirculation load. The higher cavity density also improves crushing action for end products with more consistent gradation and superior shape.
