Focus on safety training earns Reeves Construction Co. top award

Reeves Construction Co., Georgia was named winner of NAPA’s 2009 Asphalt Operations Safety Innovations Award for a safety training video. The video highlights safety practices for every aspect of the asphalt industry, from the handling of liquid asphalt cement to the making of the asphalt in the plant and actual laydown of the asphalt on the road. The four section video explains Reeve Construction Co.’s commitment to safety and outlines its general safety policies (no cell phones while working, requirements for personal protective gear, drug testing, etc.). Other sections focus on the handling of hazardous materials on the job and the safe use of equipment. Reeves Construction Co. hired a professional firm to produce the video, but used its own employees to illustrate safe practices.
